Social Security overpayments have been well documented in recent times, as these errors are becoming more common. We’ve pointed out they impact retirees from all backgrounds. They can also create a ton of problems – some more severe than others.
Many of those affected have dealt with stress, sleepless nights, and of course, financial strains. But the problem has gotten so severe that some seniors have lost their homes as they tried to pay back massive amounts of money they were sent through no fault of their own.
Take this woman, who was forced to seek shelter in strip malls. It’s the worst type of irony to consider that a program meant to provide seniors with financial stability is now taking it away. How can this be fixed?
