In this documentary, six very different Social Security beneficiaries tell their stories: retirees, disability insurance recipients, and survivors.
In their own words, telling their own true stories, these beneficiaries highlight something that tends to get lost in the Social Security debate. Underneath the mountains of statistics, demographics, policy details, and cost analyses are people–just like those in this film–who were met with a struggle.
It might have been aging, the death of a spouse or parent, or being born with an illness or physical challenge. But as different as their stories are, they are united in the affirmation that without Social Security, they wouldn’t be where they are today.
These stories are an important reminder to all of us how much this incredible program continues to make a difference in the lives of ordinary, everyday Americans–from senior retirees to some of the youngest and most vulnerable members of our society.
These stories–these people–are why we fight to protect Social Security.
