Could These Medicaid and Medicare Updates Be “a Monumental Disaster”?

A recent budget blueprint released by the White House calls for changes to Medicaid but leaves Medicare updates like lower prescription drug prices out.

One big change for Medicaid? More low-income seniors would be able to access in-home care versus making the move to a nursing home.

While Medicaid covers one in four Americans, including millions of seniors, Medicare’s widespread reach makes updates to this program essential.

Yet by leaving updates to Medicare on the table, this budget proposal will not help lower the cost of prescription medications. According to AP News, seniors also will not see dental or vision coverage through Medicare in this round of revisions.

Some groups have called that omission “a monumental disaster.”

At The Seniors Center, we want seniors to receive all they’re owed. From Social Security benefits to comprehensive healthcare coverage through Medicare, all must be protected. Learn more about our mission today. And follow The Seniors Center on Twitter and Facebook for more updates!
