As the lead-up to the midterm elections in 2022 begins this November, politicians on both sides of the aisle are scrambling to understand what issues will matter most for America’s seniors.
According to a recent article by AARP, however, it appears that these candidates can save themselves the effort: Americans over 50 years old largely agree on which policies and executive actions should be prioritized moving forward.
The article cites a new survey from AARP and Politico which found that the most important issues for seniors include:
- Health care – Seniors want less expensive prescription drugs and Medicare for All
- Medicare – Strengthening and expanding the program to provide more coverage for seniors
- Social Security – Ensuring that Social Security remains solvent for future generations
- Care options – More funding for home care and options for assisted living
