Is the SSA Ready to Rebuild Their Workforce?

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has been facing staff shortages for some time now. This, combined with a recent hiring freeze, has made life difficult on both ends of the organization.

Those who work there are overburdened and stressed because of it. The Americans who rely on this organization for help are equally frustrated. Some spend hours on the phone at a time trying to get help, and never truly get their issues resolved.

But new SSA Commissioner Martin O’Malley is planning to restart hiring activity. This would see the organization add new staff members and revamp its processes, after being at its lowest staffing levels in nearly three decades.

Have you ever had any customer service issues with the SSA? Do you think their renewed hiring efforts will improve the quality of service they provide?
